10 Years of Evolution
By: Crystal Sims
On April 20th, 1999 Evolution Body Piercing opened it’s doors for
business. My partner, Shawn Taylor and I were both piercers, very
passionate about the industry, and eager to share our passion with as
many people as possible. In order to do this we worked hard to create a
clean and pleasing environment where everyone from the extreme piercing
enthusiast to the conservative parent or grandparent would feel
comfortable. Shawn worked day and night designing and building the
display cases and the interior of the studio while I was ordering the
most advanced equipment and creating forms and informational pamphlets
for our clients. We had a simple motto: “Setting a Higher Standard.â€
That meant higher standards in cleanliness, safety, jewelry quality,
and service. We still use that motto today.
I was so grateful during our first few months of business that our hard
work didn’t go unnoticed. Despite a great deal of competition at the
time, Evolution’s client base grew very quickly. Only 6 months after we
opened we had grown to the extent that we needed another piercer. We
hired Noah Babcock at that time, and we’re very proud to still have him
with us today. Noah is now our head piercer and has been an integral
part making Evolution renowned as one of the best body piercing studios
in the nation.
In addition to Shawn, Noah, and myself our current staff includes our
dedicated counter girl Angela Gonzales and piercer Jamie Clark. Each
member of our staff shares the same goals and values. We all want every
client to have a memorable experience and leave happy (whether it be
with a piercing, a new piece of jewelry, or simply some good
information). We all want every client to feel like they were safe,
informed, given whatever support they might have needed during their
experience. We all want every client to tell their friends about us and
to come back.
As it turns out, over 65% of our business comes from repeat clientele,
so we’re very grateful to have earned your trust and loyalty. Ten years
later our business is still growing, and we’re still striving to bring
you the very best information, jewelry and techniques in this evolving
industry. Many of the things we offer now weren’t even imaginable when
we started, and we can only hope that ten years from now we’re offering
things that we can’t imagine today. Ten years from now is goal is to
still be evolving, to still be growing, and to always be the studio
that is “Setting a Higher Standard.â€
